Vander Pyle's Sing Along Blog
Fan Mail Time!

Hello Onionheads. Welcome back to wherever we are.

There is a big part of me that wishes I had been able to make it back to Chicago for Ed Chuman’s services. What comforts me is knowing that Eddie would have probably yelled at me for wasting time and money just to stare at a dead body in a box. Yep, I miss that guy! And now we hear of the passing of Georgiann Makropolous, a longtime member of the wrestling family. While I only met her briefly in passing several years ago, I do know many who were close to her and my sympathy goes to them and to her family.

2010 has not been all bad news. In fact, wrestling wise things have been very interesting. I now manage Ricky Mandel, a very promising young wrestler out this way. Adam Pearce is the new NWA British Commonwealth Champion. And, even though we came up short of wining the Mach 1 Championship, Joey Ryan and I are back, better than ever and somehow being… cheered… by the fans? Strange world. But instead of delving into what’s going on, it’s fan mail time!

In a recent blog I not only talked about NWA House but I also gave an email address to where you could get information. Turns out that a lot of you chose to use this as an opportunity to ask me questions. If you wish to send me more questions or inquire about NWA House, write to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . But for now, here are your questions and comments.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

Thank you for not outing me as the Australian who did drunken lucha rolls down your stairs, broke your picture frames and had his way with your Christmas tree. I also thank you for not mentioning that I did most of this in just my underwear with an AFL (Aussie football) footy stuck in my shorts. Also thanks for not mentioning that I taped branches from the grapefruit tree out back to my face or that I put cheese wiz in Lalo’s hair and tried to eat it. I usually don’t get that drunk. Thanks for covering for me!

Dan “The Beast” Moore

Dear Dan,

No problem. Your identity is safe with me. BTW, here are those pictures of you from last night’s Australia Day party.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle

Who were your favorite wrestlers when you were growing up?

Andy Lurie

Dear Andy,

I was lucky enough to tell him this once in a promo, but as a kid growing up in Chicago, professional wrestling was basically the Nick Bockwinkel show. Being able to work with him not long ago still ranks as one of my career highlights. Later on I had pretty much three favorites – Shawn Michaels, Owen Hart and above all others, Brian Pillman. Shawn I don’t think I need to explain since everyone lists him. Owen to me was the way better version of Bret. I liked Bret, but as the youngest in a large family I could really relate to Owen’s character. Brian was simply incredible to watch and to listen to. His matches with Jushin Lyger are still among the best of all time and then he took “what is he going to do next?” to Andy Kaufman-like levels.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

Thank you for the Lobot reference in your latest blog. That is all.

Johnny Yuma

Dear Johnny,

You’re welcome. Go San Diego yourself.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

I have heard bits and pieces of the story of the near riot you and the Real American Heroes caused in Houston a few years back? Can you please tell us what really happened?

Mike Rothschild

Dear Mike,

One of my next few blogs will be dedicated entirely to “The Riot” and I don’t think that you will be disappointed. It was one of the wildest things I have ever been a part of and should make for a good read.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

I have tried several times to add you as a friend on Facebook. Will you please accept my request?

David Marquez

Dear Dave,

No. Jerk.

But seriously, this is my way of letting some of you know to not be offended if I don’t accept your friend requests on MySpace or Facebook. I reserve that only for people I actually know. It’s nothing personal. Actually, I take that back. It is exceptionally personal, just nothing to get mad about. Or get mad, buy a ticket and boo me. Whatever works for you.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

Beatles or Elvis?

Matt Suhey Jr.

Dear Matt,

Beatles in a landslide. I love Elvis Christmas music, but his regular stuff can’t hold a candle to the Beatles library. Personally, I’d take Juliana Hatfield over either one. Her new album “Peace & Love” hits stores Feb 16.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

Who trained you to be a manager?

John Roberts

Dear John,

When I first started I got a lot of advice from my friend Dave Prazak. His help was invaluable and I could never say thank you enough to him. But the majority of what I know came from Adam Pearce. Adam has been managed in the past by such men as JJ Dillon, Bobby Heenan, Jim Cornette, Carmine DeSpirito, Dave Prazak, Mortimer Plumtree and more. Adam was able to give me what he has learned from working with these incredible men. That, plus the natural chemistry Adam and I have together, has made us the top wrestler/manager combination in wrestling today.

Dear Mr. Vander Pyle,

When you are in the middle of a match and your wrestler(s) aren’t doing as well as you hoped, how do you know when… ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!!!

Josh Berling

Dear Josh,

I like Futurama as much as the next guy, but these Hypnotoad references are getting a bit... ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!!!

Until I blog again, Go Cu… GO HYPNOTOAD!!!
